Notice how we set the stage for Larry’s accomplishments by describing the situation when he took the position. This is a very important strategy because without that information the reader wouldn’t be able to appreciate the scope of his accomplishments.
Consider this strategy always, but especially if you have worked in a tough situation where you weren’t able to have the impact you would have liked.
In this case, growing funding 10% might not sound too impressive until you know that when Larry took the job, the situation was dire. Once you know that, you know just how much he achieved.
